THOUSAND LAYER LASAGNA

Lasagna

This is my favorite lasagna recipe. Layers of whisper-thin sheets of fresh pasta brushed with the most vibrant red tomato sauce imaginable all intersecting layer after layer of warm, oozy, fresh mozzarella.

If you wish to try this masterpiece, all you have to do is follow my instructions very carefully.

Step 1

Prepare the ingredients.

Pour 3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil into a pan and cook the minced meat or chicken over medium heat. Add in 1 tablespoon of dried basil leaves, minced onion, sliced garlic, 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh parsley, and ½ tablespoon of ground black pepper.

To make the sauce, pour a whole can of Prego tomato sauce in a pot. Toss in the cooked minced meat or chicken and mix well.

In a mixing bowl, mix ricotta cheese with egg, remaining 2 tablespoons parsley, ½ teaspoon of basil leaves and ½ teaspoon of salt.

Step 5

Assemble the lasagna. Start with a layer of Prego tomato sauce and minced meat or chicken. Arrange 4 pieces of pasta sheets. Then, add a layer of ricotta cheese and end with 4 pieces of pasta sheets.

Step 6

Repeat step 5 until it reaches the thickness that you like. For best result, repeat step 5 twice. 

Step 7

Sprinkle some mozzarella cheese on the top layer.

Cover with foil and bake in preheated oven at 190°C for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 25 minutes or until golden and bubbly. Let set for 5 minutes before serving.
